Special Release
May 27, 2020

In May of 2020, officers took several reports of stolen and forged checks from several residents in our community. The checks had been stolen and forged in surrounding communities as well. Officers conducted several follow-up investigations and worked with several other jurisdictions diligently.

On May 26, 2020, officers concluded the investigation. Officers and detectives of the Chillicothe Police Department along with Deputies of the Livingston County Sheriff's Office, including K-9 Zaki served a search warrant in the 100 block of Mitchell Road. During this search warrant officers and detectives located several items which included area residents' checks, professional forging equipment, a large amount of narcotics, firearms, and false identifications. They arrested a 64-year-old male, 46-year-old male, and a 37-year-old female all of the Kansas City area on several charges to include forgery, possession of forgery equipment, stolen property, stolen identification, stolen checks, possession of controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm, and child endangerment. A child was also taken from the home. The subjects were processed and transported to the Daviess/DeKalb Regional jail pending the filing of formal charges.

I am very proud of the work and dedication the men and women of the Chillicothe Police Department put in on a day-to-day basis to solve crime and stop disruption within our community. These people came to our community disrupting and victimizing our citizens to benefit themselves. Staff is working with other agencies to assist in prosecution of these individuals in other communities as well. We will continue in our dedication to keep you the citizens safe. We would like to thank the Livingston County Prosecuting Attorney Adam Warren, Livingston County Associate Judge Michael Leamer, and Livingston County Sheriff's Office for their assistance during this investigation. All persons are innocent unless and until proven guilty in a Court of Law. A mere arrest, arrest warrant and/or incarceration is merely an allegation and nothing more.
